I tried both, the PSP is SO enjoyable it shoud be classified as an "adult toy" for it brings immense pleasure
The DS make an OUTSTANDING coaster.

The DS can run RTS games. No portable has been able to do that yet. Looks like DS can dominate the market there if they do things right.

I prefer the PSP, simply because it has the media capabilities. MP3 player, Video player, Picture displayer. Plus it looks really nice. I own it, and its very nice.
DS? IDK, from the outside, it looks like something from a mcDonalds happy meal. And the buttons on the inside feel really small and weak.
Unfortunate thing about the PSP is that to fully utilize it, you'll end up paying another 65 dollars for a memory stick. But still so worth it.

PSP, because you can hack/mod it to do an enormous amount of things, act as a remote for your TV/DvD player, use it as a web browser, communicate with others online, play movies, use it as an MP3 player, you can even hook up a PSP with Windows XP and play solitaire on it, and the list goes on and on.
DS has that neat little movie drawing thingy for Mario in the menu whatever...

I assume you got the JP firmware 2.0. Yes, included web browser, PSP portals, and webchat... BTW, how are those webchat things working? Took too long for me to type in my password...I just gave up.

I've not had many problems thus far, fun if you're bored ...(or if you recently found out from your eye doctor that your excessive computer time is deteriorating your eyesight and your ability to focus in on things), I don't use it much though, as I only payed for half of it and it's technically not mine...technically.

PSP wins because of its games. DS if for younger audiences (or fan boys).
Also you can listen to MP3's, watch movies, and hook it up to Windows XP
(I wonder if it comes with internet too, then I could post from anywhere!)

I dont think they are going to do SSB to the DS, cause it would be reall hard playing it.. DS buttons and "joystick" (what ever u call it) isnt ment for those kinda games.
But, nintendo are quite stupid so, maybe XD
The newest SSB that is coming what i know is SSBR to Revolution, its gonna be realsed the same time as Revolution is realsed

I own a PSP. I've bought it the 3rd day it came out because I seriously had to hunt it down (There were freaking LINES of people trying to get one at the EB). Now, this is coming from a guy who owns a PSP and who has sold his DS.
I got the DS first since it was cheaper and I figured I'd try out both systems. Eh. I Wasn't that impressed: the touch screen was kind of lame. I mean, my PDA has that, and it doesnt make for good games. It also got dirty as hell. The games were kind of lame, and I HATED that Nintendo still used cartrages. Cartrages can easily get erased, get dusty and unusable. Plus, they're prehistortic :P. After the first week, I realized I've been leaving my DS on my desk, not even picking it up for a quick 15 minutes. I sold it the next day to a co-worker. Now I get the chance to get a PSP.
First impressions of my PSP: Christ this is expensive. But theres a reason. That little box it comes in? It's a treasure chest. EVERYTHING is in there, right down to a Spider Man 2 UMD Movie (Which has audio and visual quality as a DVD ^.^) and a static free cleaning cloth o_O I bought Metal Gear AC!D with it, and still play that little gem today. The first thing your gonna realize when you turn on your PSP is that the thing is a media center, not just a hand held. Music, movies, UMD Movies (Or Mini DVDs as some call them), UMD CDs, pictures.. And thats just sans the games o_O The games are amazingly addicting so far. I own Metal Gear AC!D, Wipeout Pure, Coded Arms and Lumies! and I still cant put any of them down. Coded Arms has to be the best looking shooter on any hand held EVER.
So in conclusion, it's simple: DS is a toy, a PSP is an Entertainment System. Oh, and who can argue $10 for a full DVD quality movie, eh? (And soon you can play it on your TV or computer).

gonna hav to go with DS on this one
i mean i don't buy the handheld for its multimedia capabilities
i buy it for the games
and while the mp3 or movie functions are nice
im not gonna squint my eyes and watch a movie from a puny psp screen
got my flat screeen tv and all :P
and isn't the psp battery life quite short too, it'll be a shame during a middle of a movie, and it just go *zap* and shuts down by itself
ps. its not like ds doesn't have madden and final fantasy either

Overall i must say that the PSP is nice but the reason they added all the extra features is so sony can squeeze every last penny out of your pocket. Such as the memory stick mentioned above i think. A friend has the DS and it is pretty nice. I've seen the PSP and it does look a hell of a lot nicer than the DS but overall the reason nintendo uses cartradiges i believe is that it makes the battery last longer compared to the PSP i mean who wants something they paid $200+ for to go dead after a 2-3 hours. I'm almost sure that is the estimated time it will last expeically if yout watching a movie.
